Community Paramedics

Our Community Paramedics may also be known as first contact paramedic . The purpose of this role is to maintaining high standard care within the PCN, they do this by working across all Surgeries of the PCN if and when required.

The Community Paramedic will usually work under supervision of the practice team to support acute, on the day access to the surgeries. With their wealth of expereince they will often assist with patients requiring a home visit or visting our registered nursing homes.

Amongst these the community paramedic is able to assess and diagnose patients and sometimes refer patients to further assessments if and when required. The aim of the community paramedic is it help the demand of GP Surgeries, communicating with all health care professionals and also assisting if required by accepting any referrals. The aim is to also reduce the A&E admissions to release further strain on the NHS.

There is always opportunity to progress and along with their Paramedic qualification they can also go on to deliver more complex sessions such as first aid training courses and also further their education in prescribing medication for induvial. Our current paramedic has recently achieved her prescribing qualification and will be qualifying as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in 2025 meaning that they will be able to support the Practice teams with a wide array of acute presentations quickly and effectively.
