World Breastfeeding Week (WBW)

WBW is celebrated between 1st and 7th August of every year.

In 1991 the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) was formed. This was formed by individuals and organisations from all over the world who were dedicated to supporting and promotion of breastfeeding.

Each year holds a different focus. 2023 is focused on breastfeeding and work/employment. Covid-19 has greatly impacted many different organisations, support and accessibility to breastfeeding support. This year the WBW is focusing on the impact of paid leave and workplace support of normalising breastfeeding.

Let’s together improve conditions for working women and breastfeeding – happy mum, happy baby
