World Hepatitis Day

28.07.2024

World Hepatitis Day is a day celebrated every year to focus on hepatitis C (Hep C) – the viral infection that infects the liver. If it is left untreated it can lead to further complications such as chronic liver disease. Hep C is usually curable with medication and usually leads patients to live a normal healthy life.

Symptoms;

It is easy to dismiss symptoms of Hep C as another medical condition, this means that a lot of people who have Hep C can be carrying the infection without knowing. Please find the symptoms that would potentially arise whilst suffering Hep C;

  • Flu like symptoms
  • Loss of appetite
  • Stomach problems
  • Feeling or being sick
  • Fatigued

The only way to establish if these symptoms are the due to Hep C is by being tested for it, this can be done via a blood test. You can also do this yourself at home via a finger skin prick test.

Whilst a large amount of people across the World are continuously working to test and treat people the Government needs to strategically put things into place to try and achieve their ambitious goal of eliminating Hepatitis C as a public health concern in England by 2025.
