November is the month we encourage men to ditch their razors and grow a mo!
This annual campaign takes place every November to support men mental health and remove the stigma behind it.
As well as men’s mental wellbeing it is aimed at men checking themselves and knowing what problematic signs to look for.
5 main focuses for men;
- 1. Spending time with people who make you feel good
Spending time with friends and family have a positive impact on your wellbeing. The feeling of belonging and giving us all a sense of direction. Check in and make time!
- 2. Talk more
Whether it be talking to a loved one, a friend or a professional. It may be hard to open up on your feelings, espeically if you don’t understand them yourself but, A problem shared is a problem halved!
- 3. Know the Numbers
At certain ages throughout life both men and women are invited for certain screening to help catch cancer early. At the age of 50 men are encouraged to talk to their GP about prostate check and knowing if the test is right for you. Men who have a close family history of prostate cancer are encouraged to talk about this sooner.
- 4. Know your nuts!
Get to know what is normal for your testicles. Check them regularly to ensure there is nothing unusual, if there is – get your GP to check them out
- 5. Move more
Encourage yourself to move more. Walk where you can, use the gym, arrange a short run with friends or family. It is more convenient to jump in your car or use public transport but, walking the extra 20 minutes a day will have a positive impact on your health.
