Trans Awareness Week

13.11.2024 – 19.11.2024

Trans awareness week is held annually to bring the awareness around the issues and challenges the people within the transgender community face. It is a week to bring awareness around individuals, to learn of their stories and educate people the prejudice and discrimination to this community.

The week chosen is the week leading up to Transgender Day of Remembrance. This was founded in 1999 a year after Rita Hester was killed. It is held on the anniversary of her death to remember her and all those transgender people who lost their lives to violence throughout the year.
