What is a FCP?
FCP’s are here to deal with any minor musculoskeletal (MSK) issues. They are easily accessible and can be booked through your own GP Receptionists and or can be referred to via any clinician.
The aim of the FCP is to improve patient waiting times whilst ensuring patients get the correct and sufficent care they need.
MSK problems account for 1 in 5 GP appointments. Most of these can be dealt with by the FCP. As a result of this it is helping to reduce the amount of time patients are taking off sick from employment. The FCP is based within the community which reduces the amount of waiting time for secondary care referrals. The FCP are at the same high level of confidentiality as GP’s whilst they are able to assess and diagnose any MSK issues.
