Eating disorders

An eating disorder is usually used to manage your feelings. There are different types of eating disorders which can all lead to serious physical health issues. Eating disorders can begin at any age, can be found in any gender and affect people of all shapes, sizes and different weights.

Types of eating disorders

  • Anorexia

People diagnosed with this form of eating disorder generally try to keep their weight as low as possible. They usually have a fear of gaining weight associated with low self esteem and are self- conscious of their body image.

  • Binge Eating Disorder (BED)

BED is an eating disorder that makes you feel your eating habits are out of control which usually leads to feeling mentally distressed. Some symptoms of BED include eating for the sake of it i.e. not feeling hungry. Eating fast and binger eating.

  • Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia is a diagnoses which usually relates to a person still eating normal or over eating but then usually do something to stop themself gaining weight. This could be taking a form of medication, excessive exercising or making yourself vomit. Bulimia usually has the same effects on your mind as any other eating disorder which in general means low self esteem and has a negative impact on their body image
